Feeling Positively Ancient

We just recently hosted a 5oth wedding anniversary party for my parents. During my parent's thank you speech my mentioned all the things that exist today that didn't in 1959. This provocated some interesting discussions with my son Ben...

...."Mom, when you were a kid, did they have color tv?"

...."Dad, when you were little, did they have Legos?"

....."Mom, how did you travel in a car to California without an ipod or dvd player? Weren't you totally bored?"

Ben, your forgot to ask me if I lived in a cave with Dino as my pet dinosaur!

Boy-you are making me feel old!

A shooting star...

I am a closet space geek. No, I do not watch Carl Sagan and read lots of periodicals about space and all of it's glory. However, comets, planet-viewings and a even a random visit to a planetarium are all things that I do from time to time.

As I was half-watching, half-doing something else yesterday morning, I caught a small mention about the Perseids meteor shower that was suppose to be quite visible to the naked eye during the next several days. So... I set my alarm for 5 am (yawn), got somewhat dressed and went outside to view.

The air was so still this morning. The quiet of the pre-dawn was hypnotic. I sat on my driveway, camera in hand, poised and ready to go and patiently waited for the show to begin. I would love to report that I captured some awesome pics. I didn't! I did see a total of 4 shooting stars. For me-totally worth the early wake-up call!
